The city has become a popular tourist destination in the last ten years. And now the colonial city is an outdoor museum hidden in a tropical paradise, with beautiful beaches and hills. The colonial Portuguese architecture has been restored and in the historic centre most buildings have been reconverted into quaint restaurants, shops and pubs. Since there is no car traffic in that area, the historic heritage is kept intact and there is a truly peaceful environment.

Misti Chill Hostel is located on a unique spot: the Pontal beach, just 200 metres away from the Paraty?s historic centre. The beachfront location of the hostel is a little oasis to chill in a laid-back environment. Come here to have a caipirinha, meet fellow travellers, read a book on the ocean view hammocks or play a bit of guitar watching the sun go down over the islands.

Since Paraty boast lots of beautiful beaches, there are endless options: in Paraty-Mirim, which is also an Indian reservation, you also can find lots of bars and restaurants; Tarituba is a small calm waters and fine sand beach; Jabaquara, which is surrounded by urbanization, has calm waters and  is famous for the medicinal mud; São Gonçalo is a perfect beach for a rest day; whereas Grande, located in a fishing village near Paraty Trindade is the most popular beach in Paraty. A little bit further away, Praia do Sono, is the most beautiful beach in the Green Coast boasting white sand and crystal clear water. There are also other beaches such as Prainha, a small beach where you can practice diving, white sand and crystal clear water Ponta Negra beach, deserted Praia Cachadaco, surrounded by native vegetation, and many other beautiful beaches.
